Autism Unit Provision at King's Sutton Primary Academy
King's Sutton Primary Academy is committed to fostering an inclusive environment that reflects the diversity of our local community. We welcome students with varying abilities and needs, ensuring that each child if recognised as an individual. Our approach is centered on providing tailored support that enables every pupil to reach their full potential and take advantage of the opportunities available to them.
King's Sutton Primary Academy is proud to offer a specialist Autism Unit Provision, designed to support pupils with a diagnosis of Autism in a nurturing and structured environment. Our provision currently caters for up to 30 pupils, from Reception to Year 4, and will expand to include Years 5 and 6 from September 2026. Pupils are grouped into three dedicated classes, each led by a qualified teacher and supported by two experienced teaching assistants.
All staff within the unit receive specialist training in Autism support, and the provision is overseen by a senior leader with extensive expertise in Special Educational Needs (SEN). Our approach ensures that every child receives a tailored, inclusive, and high-quality education that supports their individual learning and developmental needs.
Admission to the Autism Unit Provision requires a formal diagnosis of Autism and an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). The curriculum within the Unit is specifically tailored to address the unique educational and social development needs of these children, ensuring they receive a comprehensive and supportive learning experience.
Testimonial
"My autistic son has come on leaps and bounds since starting at the Resource Base! He's actually excited to go to school again. The new sensory room looks amazing. It's a badly needed resource in the local area as SEN settings are hugely overwhelmed and underfunded. I haven't got enough words to praise the staff enough and SENCO Katy Griffin has been the best we've ever had. The communication is brilliant from all the staff every day. 10/10 rating. 100%"
