Local Governance
At Prime7, we value the role that governance plays at all levels of the Trust. We particularly recognise the important role that Local School Representatives play in providing local insight, connecting each academy to its community, and supporting and challenging academy leaders to achieve excellence for all pupils.
The Trust Board delegates authority and responsibility to the Local School Committees (LSC) of each of our academy schools (academies) through the Scheme of Delegation. The Scheme of Delegation ensures that governance has an impact at all levels and avoids duplication, as it clearly sets out decision-making, accountability and responsibility.
The relationship between the Trust Board, the LSCs, academy leaders and Trust executive, made up of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) is a collaborative one that works towards a common vision. Our vision is to provide the best possible environment for children to learn and develop, while cultivating a sense of wonder, empathy and understanding of the modern society in which they are growing up in.
We are currently looking to recruit representatives for our academies - please see below for further information.
Local School Committees (LSCs)
Our LSCs are champions of our values in each of our academies. The role of a Local Representative within a Multi-Academy Trust is a vital one and sits at the heart of the relationship with academy leaders. The Trust Board establishes the LSCs and approves the membership of each committee. For the most part, each LSC is made up of individuals drawn from the community, including both elected and appointed members.
Local Representatives are accountable to the Trust Board, as well as to the communities they serve. Across all of our LSCs, we have a range of expertise that help to fulfil their role to:
- support and challenge academy leaders to make their academy highly effective
- provide local insight and connect the academy to its community
- ensure clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction.
Training and development are provided to ensure new representatives are successfully inducted and that existing representatives remain up to date with changes in education practice and procedures.
