Our Curriculum
Trust vision for all pupils
Our ethos is to provide the best possible environment for children to learn and develop, as well as to cultivate a sense of wonder, empathy and understanding of the world around them. Together, we will strive to cultivate the potential in all of our children to ensure that they are fully prepared for the next stage of their education. Our mission is to ensure that our staff and parents and carers are valued and well cared for so that we can work together to provide children with the best education, know how to stay safe and healthy and are able to take their place as responsible citizens in a modern society. We want to empower our children to succeed. Our values and principles are drawn from each of our schools and will support Prime7 in providing an excellent educational experience for all. We will work together with all of our stakeholders to ensure that the children in all of our schools achieve their full potential.
Curriculum Aims
Our curricula across the three schools are developed on the ambition of the Trust’s community to educate, inspire and empower young people to be ambitious for who they can become. We are dedicated to promoting the emotional, physical and social well-being of our all of our pupils to prepare them for each stage of their educational journey and to prepare them for Modern Britain.
As a Trust we are clear in our aim to instil in all young people a strong sense of belonging, identity and community: A belonging to their school; to the Trust family of schools; to their communities; to Modern British Society and, ultimately, belonging to the wider world we all share.
We are fully committed to providing broad, balanced, inspiring and challenging curricula for all our pupils which equips them with the knowledge, skills and attributes to give them choices, a sense of ambition and able to make a positive contribution to society. We provide many rich opportunities for cultural engagement to develop an appreciation of the arts. We are committed to delivering inclusive and diverse curricula that draw on all aspects our different communities to celebrate culture, recognising that fostering creativity enables deeper levels of critical thinking, the ability to question, innovate and problem solve.
Our vision for the curriculum offer in each school goes beyond the classroom and extends to a range of extra-curricular activities and opportunities within the local community and beyond. All pupils have access to and are encouraged to take in a range of activities. We proactively seek to use active partnerships to support learning wherever possible and encourage pupils to interact with visitors and any wider opportunities to extend their communication skills and learning capacity.
We have excellent relationships beyond our Trust with our feeder pre-school settings and with the local secondary schools. We also work with other Trust to strengthen the local community of schools by sharing ideas and expertise.
Our Commitment
We know that in order to provide a knowledge-rich curriculum, our Trust community must maintain an up-to-date knowledge of effective pedagogy and thinking. We offer a rich programme of continued professional development that includes an emphasis on evidence-based practice. We collaborate and value greatly working together to bring about the best possible academic and personal achievement for all. This is why the first two priorities on our Trust Business Plan are:
To develop curricula across the Trust that are ambitious for all pupils that build knowledge overtime to allow children to deepen their understanding.
To devise a professional development programme that strengthens pedagogical understanding and establishes effective subject leadership networks across the Trust that can share good practice that improves the Quality of Education in all schools.
Our Curriculum Values
Our focus values for the curricula across all three schools are Ambition and Community. These are filtered down from the Trust and thread through the individual school experiences for the children. We are a fully inclusive Trust and want to ensure that we have a commitment of ambition for all of our pupils. We also want to ensure that Community sits at the heart of all we do. This is both in terms of our Trust community of schools and each school community. We want to bring the community into school wherever possible to share local expertise and to bring the curriculum alive.
AMBITION: to have high expectations in all we do and to have ambition for continuous improvement whoever we are.
COMMUNITY: to establish schools that are at the heart of the local communities they serve. Each school is valued for its own individuality but it also plays an important part of the Trust as a whole.
Developing Physical and Mental Health
Prime7 Trust is committed to creating and maintaining a safe learning environment where all pupils and adults feel safe, secure and valued, and where they know they will be listened to and taken seriously; our curriculum provision both inside and outside of the classroom reflects this. We seek to build students’ resilience through all learning experiences in a positive, safe and stable learning environment. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important. We promote physical activity through P.E., active playtimes and after school clubs. As a Trust we are committed to ensuring our pupils and staff enjoy mental well-being through our school values and through our PSHE curriculum. We also value the well-being of our staff through our commitment laid out in our Well-Being Policy. Ensuring students understand the importance of healthy eating habits is a key part of our work. Through the curriculum we ensure that members of the Trust’s community understand the importance of a healthy, balanced diet and lifestyle.
Developing Healthy Relationships
Developing healthy relationships is vital in order to be able to lead a happy, fulfilling, safe and successful life. We will teach pupils the characteristics of healthy relationships, inclusive of family relationships, friendships and safety on and offline. We will teach pupils about the society in which they are growing up, fostering respect and appreciation for others and for difference. Our Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) prepares our children to enjoy healthy relationships. Our curriculum is committed to upholding our core values as outlined above for all members of our Trust’s community as laid out in our Equality Objectives as a Trust.
